Udupi, Mar 14: “Even after leaving the party I was in constant touch with all the Congress leaders. Everyone should understand that there is a personal life for every person besides a political career,” said K Jayaprakash Hegde, senior Congress leader.
Jayaprakash Hegde visited the Udupi Congress office on Thursday, March 14, after rejoining the party officially in Bengaluru earlier this week.
Addressing media persons Hegde said, “We are uniting for the cause of public’s development. Now my responsibility is to build the party. We have to work together to win the upcoming elections. A programme will be planned for the office-bearers of both the districts jointly.”
Speaking about his likely candidacy in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, Hegde said “Party leaders will answer this query when the candidates will be announced. I have not discussed anything about the party ticket with CM Siddaramaiah. I have discussed the future course of action and also about many problems faced in the district. Deemed forest issue of the district has to be solved.”
“I am satisfied with my work as the chairman of the Karnataka State Backward Classes Commission. The report has now been submitted to the government” he added.
Speaking about the BJP announcement of the candidate for Udupi– Chikkamagaluru, Hegde said “BJP will do its work, we will do ours. We have started our party work. Discussing caste can work amicably as much as it does. Most of the people who joined BJP with me will return. I don't think it is possible to bring everyone together. They can still help me while being in BJP. Some may care about their political future. It is not right to put pressure on anyone and tell them to follow,” he said.
