EdwardM.Kudla beating a child oft is not a method disciplining. One can discipline by other methods. Father should have discipline first. By good words and methods can discipline. Sure children are not always brave. That doesnt mean to beat them. It may harm them than make them brave. Here when one beats a child and comes to know , police may take the child away from family even after they warn them .

Remember, Boy is accompanied by his MOTHER... Can there be another angle to this case. A seven yearly old will not know about his rights or registering a case in police station. There is someone advising him all these. "Shooting from someone else's shoulder".

There is no right for any human to bodily hurt any other... Be it their own kin however small, dependent or weak... Right thing done by the kid if the menace was rampant and regular... Most kids who are beaten by parents turn violent in life... But a sad thing is kid is too small and he has to probably live under father's mercy...

If the father was disciplining the son then he is not guilty. The police have to tread a delicate line here and decide if it was abuse or disciplining. If it was disciplining and the police take action they will be morally guilty.
