New Delhi, Mar 15: Supriya Srinate, a vocal Congress spokesperson, has revealed that 27 corporate entities purchased electoral bonds following raids or actions by central investigative agencies such as the Enforcement Directorate (ED), Income Tax Department, Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), and others. She outlined the following key points in her tweet on the microblogging platform X.
• Despite the existence of Electoral Bonds for 6 years, data for only 5 years has been provided. SBI has not disclosed all donor details - there are 18,871 entries in the donor file but 20,421 entries in the recipient file. Why this inconsistency?
• BJP is the biggest beneficiary of the opaque electoral bonds scheme - they received nearly 6,100 crores alone (this figure does not include the period for which data was not provided).
• If one side of the coin is donation, the other side is either preventing investigation or conducting inquiries for extortion.
• BJP has taken money from those companies against whom its own government's ED, CBI, Income Tax conducted raids - bonds were given immediately after raids.
• There are also companies from which BJP took donations, and thereafter the government awarded them projects worth billions.
• The Supreme Court of India declared electoral bonds unconstitutional - BJP's collection of such funds is also illegal — if this isn't corruption, then what is?
Here's a list of companies where ED/CBI/Income Tax took action, and immediately after that BJP extracted hefty donations - extortion:
