Udupi, Mar 17: In a remarkable turn of events, Udupi Lok Adalat successfully resolved a longstanding dispute, as reported by plaintiff Isaac Santhosh Kumar.
The case, initiated in 2012 before the principal civil court, pertained to the partition of his property. In 2017, the case was transferred to the first additional civil court, and later to the 4th additional civil court on March 29, 2021.
During the proceedings, it was revealed that the plaintiff had granted a general power of attorney (GPA) to his wife, who was employed in Abu Dhabi then. The GPAs of both the plaintiff and the defendants indicated a willingness to reach a settlement.
Senior advocate Dinesh B, along with advocate Nagaraj B Shetty diligently pursued negotiations over the past two years, aiming for a resolution.
Ultimately, a compromise letter was submitted, underscoring the plaintiff's keenness to resolve the matter within the Lok Adalat framework. Despite the logistical challenge of the plaintiff's residence in Abu Dhabi, his attendance was secured via video conferencing, facilitating the settlement of the suit.
The proceedings were overseen by fourth additional civil judge Jeetu R S and senior civil judge Sharmila S.
