Udupi, Mar 18: In an unexpected development, D K Shivakumar, the Congress party chief, has extended an offer to BJP MP D V Sadananda Gowda from Bengaluru North to contest in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.
This offer comes after the BJP sidelined Gowda and allocated the Bengaluru North ticket to Shobha Karandlaje, prompting her to seek support from Gowda himself, as evidenced by her visit to his residence in Bengaluru.
According to sources, Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) chief D K Shivakumar has provided Gowda with the opportunity to contest from four constituencies, all of which hold significant relevance to Gowda's political career.
Among the four constituencies offered, one is Bengaluru North, Gowda's current constituency, and another is his former constituency.
Sources indicate that as D V Sadananda Gowda celebrates his birthday on March 18, he has called for a meeting at his residence with close aides, where he is expected to announce his decision by the evening.
Gururaj Anjan, a political analyst, has revealed that Puttur Congress MLA Ashok Kumar Rai is facilitating discussions between D V Sadananda Gowda and D K Shivakumar.
