Mangaluru, Mar 18: In a heart-breaking incident, a pedestrian was fatally struck by a bike at Talapady.
The deceased, identified as Rajesh Shetty (49), resided near the old bus stand of Talapady.
Rajesh, who owned a bakery nearby, was waiting to cross the highway after lunch to return to work. Unfortunately, a bike traveling on the wrong side of the road collided with him at high speed. The impact threw Rajesh onto the road, resulting in severe head injuries. Despite being rushed to a private hospital, he tragically succumbed to his injuries shortly after.
Rajesh is survived by wife and two daughters. His elder daughter is pursuing a degree, while the younger one is preparing for the upcoming SSLC examinations scheduled for March 25.
An active member of the community, Rajesh served as the vice president of Talapady Veeranjaneya Vyayama Shale and was involved in the Bunts' association.
The south traffic police have detained bike rider Mohammed Sohail and have filed a case against him in connection with the accident.
