Mangaluru: Harekala murder bid case – Accused absconding since 7 yrs held

Mangaluru, Mar 19: Rajesh Suvarna (24), who was one of the accused in a dacoity and an attempt to murder case of a shop owner near Harekala Kadavainabali that occurred seven years ago, was apprehended by the police team led by ACP Dhanya Nayak.

On May 24, 2017, Ashraf and three others arrived in an auto and entered NF General Stores near Harekala Kadavu, abused its owner Abdul Rahiman and attacked him with swords in a bid to kill him.

The gang had accused Abdul Rahiman of giving information to the police against them. The gang had then also looted Rs 50,000 in cash from the shop's drawer.

A case was registered against Ashraf, Rajesh and another person at Konaje police station. Ashraf and another accused were arrested by the police on the next day while Rajesh had gone absconding since seven years. He has now been arrested by Konaje police.

A case under Arms Act has been registered against the accused.
