Mangaluru: Customs sleuths seize smuggled gold worth over Rs 6.19 lac at MIA

Mangaluru, Mar 20: Sleuths of the Mangaluru customs seized gold from a passenger that was being smuggled here at then international airport.

The customs officials seized 96 grams of gold valued at Rs 6,19,200 from the Bhatkal-based passenger who was traveling from Dubai on March 19.

The seized gold had been converted into a paste and concealed in between double-layered brown paper sheets.

It was further secreted in a trolley bag while being smuggled into the country, the customs officials said.
