Udupi, Oct 1:
"The suicide of rising athlete Prathvi Poojary is not just an injustice to the Billawa community, but to the whole society. Therefore, this case should be probed by a team at the district superintendent of police (SP) level,” said MLC Kota Shreenivas Poojary.

He was speaking at the condolence and protest meet held at Rotary Sabhabhavana, Brahmavar, on Saturday October 1.

"Sportspersons who are mentally strong will not commit suicide. Hence, behind Prathvi’s suicide there exists a genuine reason. If the people behind her suicide are not traced, protests will be triggered,” said former MLA Sunil Kumar.

Billava leaders Gopal Poojary, Vasanth Salian, Kiran Kumar, B N Shankar, Sathish Poojary, K Raju Poojary, Sathish Poojary Barkur, Mallika B Poojary, Mani Gopal Byndore, Prathvi’s father Shekar Poojary, and Dhananjay Amin took part in this protest meet.

I don't drink and also don't like those who drink and who pretend to be drunk. I like peace. That is all. What others opinion I am not concerned. I don't continue this kind of argument anymore as I am not aware of what is going on around.

Emmanuel seems to be suffering from a disease for which there is no cure. Even in the middle of a tragedy he cannot free himself from his communal mindset.

    Dear Ms. Juliana,

If you do not understand why many people are gathered there then I think you are not reading the news clearly mentioned in Daijiworld. First of all for extending their Condolence as she was a great athlete, second just to put pressure on the police force to find out what is the actual cause of sucide attempt. If one of your family members have gone through this you would'nt said this. better think before you comment.

My deepest condolences to family of prithvi.
most of sports personalities are mentaly tough. I beleive she is coming from a tough family, under circumstances two questions arise, either the family was not happy with her becming an athlete as she would hve to be with men, or the coach or someone else influential to her blackmailing her for selfish reasons. I hope the authority will take appropriate action that full justice given to her departed soul.

The promising sportswoman, Prithvi has lost her iconic career and a precious life, to the insanity of Saffron gangs operating in the vicinity of South Canara. They may have surely threatened, by intervening in her personal life. Now, these goons stir up the issue, and convert it as a communal friction. This is not the first time, last year, a girl had poisoned herself, because of the mental torture from Saffron gangs she received for having a relationship. educated Mangaloreans need to understand this, Ponder on all angles and make mature decisions.

Dear Mr. Nagesh Nayak,, I fully agree with you..The suspect must be thoroughly investigated, if proved guilty to be hanged in public as an deterrent to other humans..which Misbal religion has given approval, since 1400 years & Mr. L.K. Advani has openly advocated for this capital punishment . No muslim will shed tear for this culprit as his religion supports this punishment.

2ndly whether Prithvi/Premalata/Furtado/Fouzia ,we have to admit the fact girls/females are definitely weak in nature, hence it is the responsibility of the parents to up bring the childrens in one's own house ,in the family atmosphere until the responsibility is shifted to another family through marriage. Brahmavar is not far from Ampar, instead of Hostel, if she was in her house, things would not have come to this stage.

Let us up bring our children especially girls not just as a "bread winner"…but as future good mother who will build the good family

So many people from where they gather for what purpose is a wonder. She was a teenager and at her age depression is common among children unless they find some one to solve their problems. Recently so many students suicided as we read day to day. Cause of such harsh decision need to be found out. All of a sudden someone killing oneself without reason is a mystery itself. She could hsve consulted her dear ones' and found solution.

By changing place of residence or by changing contacts one can find a new life. After all life is precious. One has no choice to choose life so also no right to end life. Without any death note the mystery is becoming more and more suspecting the innocent. Very bad. She should not have done this. May her soul rest in peace.

Remember there is no smoke without fire, now that prathvi is gone, lot of politicians, and the gondas are taking the center stage , we should also check the sensitivity of prathvi, she also might have given a hand, please dont point the finger at someone because he is muslim, that is SHIT, there are enough in the sports hostel who must have used her because they are feeding her , in order to cover up all that they might have found a poor scape goat it has happened in the past so nothing new

People should stop playing communal politics with this issue.Today I read in one of the third grade local news paper giving communal color to this suicide. Suicide is committed by only a mentally weak person. What made this girl mentally weak should be probed.

At the outset I offer my heart felt condolences and sympathies to Prathvi's parents and pray for the departed soul to rest in eternal peace.

In case it was a real suicide case, Prathvi must have been undergoing tremendous mental torture. If so, there must have been a solid reason for that. She could have mentioned it to somebody or written a note before taking such a harsh decision which would have avoided all these confusions and doubts. If there was a foul play, it would have solved the mistery. I think sports persons need equal mental exercise along with physical.
