Mangalore, Oct 2:
Fans of Sandalwood megastar Shivaraj Kumar had the time of their lives when the 'Hat-trick Hero', as he is known, landed in the city on Sunday October 2 to inaugurate a jewellery showroom.

He was thronged and greeted by his fans who turned up in large number to get a glimpse of their hero.

Overwhelmed by the shouts of cheers and whistles that resonated at the venue, the actor sang a few popular songs from his movies 'Jogayya', 'Janumada Jodi' and others, much to the delight of those gathered. He thanked his fans and said that it was their support that kept him going in filmdom.

A good number of police personnel were deployed as part of security measures at the venue.

Adding a touch of humour to the event, a person on the stage (erected in front of the jewellery store for the purpose) asked Shivraj Kumar if he had crossed even 18 years as he looked so young, to which the actor replied that his son was 24 now, which evoked bursts of laughter from the crowd.

After the brief interaction with his fans, he proceeded to inaugurate the store.

Shivarajkumar is one of my favorite actors in Kannada Industry. I have seen so many films. He is a great legend and also he is pillar of Sandalwood. No, one has the guts to cross the 100 films. The person who talks rumor and abusive language about him they are bustard. I love Shivanna very much and I am so crazy. My Boss Shivanna has to complete more than 500 films and he has the ability to do that with addition to do that his dance extra ordinary. I LOVE SHIVANNA!!!

Very sad to see such a racist comments from Daiji readers here...I am sure most of them who commented against Shivraj Kumar have not seen classics like OM, Chigurida Kanasu, Jogi and many other movies.

Being educated dont judge people by color.
Shivraj Kumar is talented actor in Kannada and being Kannadiga's we must proud of him.
Just for you info, his OM movie release in many theaters and still running in packed houses.

There were born artists in Kannnada film industry like Dr Raj,Vishnuvardhan,Anant,Shankar Nag. But present heros don't have that type of talent except Ganesh(mungaru male).Because Senior actors were loving acting unlike present acotrs who are after money.Senior acotrs were very well supported by talented Directors.Presnet less talented actors don't have that chance, because there are no good directors in Kannada film industry like Malayalam film.If you take Malayalam film..there are not handsome heroes, but through acting they show what beauty is ! Salim Kumar is the proof. His color is as black as coal.He won National award for film "Adaminde Magan Abu". Now that film is chosen for OSCAR AWARD ! Malayalam film industry is lucky that many highly talented Directors are working. They make very ordinary looking Salim Kumar into Extra Ordinary film actor. So,dont blame Shivanna. He is an average acotr,if he gets good director, then he will become World Class actor.

Ashwin, bejai/mangalore with regards to your comment " No Looks , no physic , no acting skills , nothing at all ,, n yet he is a super star ... ". I would like to say that even the actors like Salman, Sharukh, Akshay, Hritik etc dont know acting, but the people you accept them with whatever bundle and over acting they do. When it comes to Shivanna you give all sort of negative comments against him the reason being that he belongs to Kannada film industry. Shivanna is a very good actor and also a good dancer also.

Glad to see Shivaraj in Mangalore. Shivaraj Kumar is one of the best actors in the Kannada industry. Very simple person. It so happened when we were on a picnic to a remote village near Maddur (a year ago)with our high school classmates. While coming back, we met the actor who was on his way to the temple, most of our friends took a snap and he immediately guessed that we were from Mangalore. He tried to speak in Tulu (which was difficult) but then he said that he really likes the place. Truely, he is a great superstar.

We are very good in humilating people . Arent we? we are jealous when somebody is better than us. european does appreciate Indian but our own guys make plots to downgrade him.
Anyway recently S saw a photograph in Times (FEW MONTHS BACK) of a known man. I couldnt recognise the man in the photo but he said he is there in the photo. I said you are not there. He showed me and yes he was there!. I simply couldnt recognise because he was little black in Colour(rather very black). That did not matter to me as we are all humanbeings and I am also very black . I told him since you are Little dark i couldnot see you .

Similarly the people who criticise Sivanna first must clear their faces and see their faces in the clear mirror from bunder. I do agree sivanna may be not good looking but he is the Son of Dr Raj.Morever people like him. Since Dr Raj is no more people have special treatment for sivanna which others do not have that previlage. He is talented of course Dr rajs clouds make him more popoular. Thanks for gentlemen who brought him to Mangalore for inaugration.Keep It Up!

That’s right shivanna is not handsome. Even in tamil superstar(Rajini) his face is also not so good...what about dhanush, vishal?, and in Malayalam what momuka and mohanlal. Seeing them only we don’t feel like not watching their movies....and telugu i dont know even there people can find such type of faces. Its acting that matters more in a movie not the face

And for all kannadigas especially Mangaloreans we know that kannada movie industry is not good, but please dont give negative comments against kannada movies as if we are from America or England. Have you ever found a mallu, tamilian or telugu people saying bad about their film industry. Even there is lot more things so many flop movies only thing we doesnt cum to know and platinum theathre of Mangalore puts only one hit movies remember.

Its sad to see such racist tendencies and hatred towards one of the greatest present day Kannada stars..On the other hand its heartening to see the support by other folks here.

I became a huge fan of Shivanna in 2005 after seeing his film Jogi. As a film connoisseur who enjoys cinema especially from hollywood, I saw this man give a lifetime performance...I doubt anyone in India can enact that role similarly..Such emotions and such range in his acting..Even a usually relaxed guy like me had tears at the end of the film..The film grossed 60 crores and was the top 3rd grossing film in India in 2005. No mean feat.

    Other records:

First 3 films ran for 25 weeks each.  His 1995 Masterpiece "Om" directed by our Mangalorean Upendra was the first film based on the underworld and inspired RGV's "Satya".  His 2001 Chigurida Kanasu was the inspiration for "Swades" His 1996 blockbuster "Janumada Jodi" ran for 25 weeks and was based on a national award winning story about Casteism.  At the age of 48, he still looks 20 years younger.Though not blessed by typical good looks, he has won the hearts of millions...He like his father is one of the few Kannada actors to have massive fan following among Muslims and Christians also...A few years back, a Muslim fan of his got a Rupess 1 lakh worth gigantic cake made for the occasion. The man makes frequent visits to churches too for prayers. Above all his humility and simplicity have made me his ardent fan!!! Thanks for the pics Daijiworld. Keep it up!

I am surprised to note there are still uncivilized people in our Mangalore community as I see lot of comments against Shivaraj Kumar. Some people goes on his personality, and some indirectly based on religion. One should appreciate the talent and skill of a person whoever achieved in his life. Shivaraj Kumar is a prooved and established actor with no negative remarks. Good looking is not a matter, whereas we should notice his approach towards people.

I liked and adored Raj. Saw many of his movies. I have seen couple of Shivraj movies too. Liked them. About the looks, it is in the eye of the beholder. What one might consider most handsome might be too uglky for others. Again, it is not the colour of the skin or the other physical attributes that should be taken as parameters. It is the personality and the inner beauty of the soul that matters most. I may sound silly to most of you.

Perhaps I belong to alder generation, perhaps I belong to village. But, I love/respect kannada and I love/respect all kannada actors too. Having born on kannada soil, studied in kannada medium, having been nouriushed by food grown on kannada soil, it would be a shame if I disown kannada now just to show off. I am proud to be identified as Kannadiga. Jaya Bharatha jananiya tanujaathe, jaya he Karnataka Maathe.

Attitude of some of the mangaloreans towards Kannada/Kannada movies is deplaorable. You have no right to comment on Kannada/Kannada mvies when you dont watch? who are you to judge a person by look? Why Shivraj cannot be a hero when a person much senior to him (Rajni) is adored as a hero and don the role of a superman whose movies you guys enjoy watching.

I am not his fan, but would definately like to appreciate his acting. Likewise if you all see even Rajanikanth is not good looking, but he has millions of fans across the globe more than the handsome smart looking actors like Amitabh, Sharukh, Hrithik etc. Also if someone watches kannada movie dont say that they are Gowda's. They do not mind switching off kannada channel with a fear somebody may watch them seeing kannada movie. Its a shame we being kannadigas redicule of our own star Shiv Raj Kumar son of great star Dr Raj Kumar . Whether he is good looking or not its clear many people in karnatake like him because he is son of Raj & Thats something very interesting and phinomenal .His many movies are hit too.Its immaterial if people like him because of his acting or because his Dr Rajs son!He is liked by many & thats the truth !

As usual expected negative comments from our Mangalore people regarding Kannada films or Kannada actor, but the problem with some of our people is that they don't want to watch Kannada movies at all. They want to watch only Hindi or English movies. It doesn't matter if they really understand Hindi or English. They behave as if watching Kannada movie is like an insult to them. So want to watch only whatever the bundle or bakwas movies of Hindi or English languages. Shivanna is definately a good actor of Kannada film industry. A few years back when Shivanna visited to Mangalore there was his interview in one of the local channels. He has good regards towards all our Mangalore people. Also in the beginning of interview Shivanna was trying to talk a few words in Tulu which is definately appreciable. Since Shivanna has good regards towards Mangalore people.
