Bengaluru, Mar 23: “Did people get the promises Acche Din? Was income of farmers doubled? Were diesel-petrol-LPG prices reduced? Were 2 crore jobs created annually?’’ asked Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of duping people with his false promises and termed him as the ‘’PM who uttered maximum number of lies.’’
Addressing a meeting of the members and office-bearers of the Congress government’s flagship Guarantee Implementation committees at the KPCC office organised by Deputy Chief Minister and State party chief D K Shivakumar on Saturday, the Chief Minister alleged that ‘’BJP stole the Congress party’s Guarantees’’ and has renamed them as ‘’Modi Guarantees.’’
Siddaramaiah said he and the Congress party does not believe in emotionally provoking the people nor will the party ditch them. ‘’We will respond the problems of the people,’’ he said.
He said the most audacious false promise from the Prime Minister was crediting Rs 15 lakh into each person’s bank account, which has not materialised during the last 10 years of Modi rule.
The Chief Minister said the Congress government’s guarantees cover people of all religions, castes and groups and treats all the people equally, with particular emphasis on serving the poor, women and farmers.
He reiterated the government’s constant charge that the Modi regime has been discriminating against Karnataka and Kannadigas, who are contributing Rs 4.50 lakh crore as tax revenue to the Central exchequer while the State is getting barely Rs 50,000 crore.
“The BJP and JDS leaders are dancing by proclaiming the injustice to the State as justice. People must understand this,’’ he said and asked all the Guarantee committee functionaries to enlighten the people of the real facts and convince them of the injustice done to Karnataka.
Guarantee panel functionaries are Cong backbones
Deputy Chief Minister and State party chief D K Shivakumar hailed all the Guarantee panel members and functionaries as the backbone of the ruling Congress and said the five guarantees implemented by the government have helped a large number of people and brought a change in their lives.
All the poorer families in the State are benefitted to the tune of Rs 5,000 to 6,000 a month and enabled them to lead a comfortable life. This money is circulating and improving the economy, he said.
Shivakumar said the Congress party is committed to assure a minimum support price for farmers for their crops by bringing a law, exempt the agriculture sector from the GST and guarantee waiver of farm loans in distress situations.
While B JP is playing with the lives of the people by raking up issues pertaining to religion and God, the government is determined to work for the welfare of the people, he said.
The KPCC Chief asked all the guarantee panel members and office-bearers from the State to the taluk level to work for the success of the Congress candidates in the Lok Sabha polls and ensure that the party fares well in all the booths in their region.
