Mangaluru, Mar 25: A tragic incident unfolded on Monday, March 25 at Ullal, Someshwar seashore, highlighting the critical need for prompt emergency response services.
A woman, aged between 40 to 50 years, found herself in distress while bathing in the sea and began to drown. Despite a valiant effort by a diver who risked his life to rescue her, the absence of timely medical assistance proved fatal.
The incident unfolded rapidly, prompting nearby onlookers to alert the lifeguard, Ashok Someshwar, known for his numerous successful rescues. Without hesitation, Ashok sprang into action, covering a kilometer to reach the scene. Plunging into the tumultuous waves, he managed to retrieve the woman and carefully carried her to safety, ascending the temple steps with urgency.
Although the woman was brought ashore alive, she urgently required oxygen support. Regrettably, the arrival of both police and ambulance services was significantly delayed, exacerbating the dire situation.
