Ajman, Oct 3: Gulf Medical University, Ajman had the privilege to honour Dr Veerappa Moily, minister of corporate affairs, Government of India, on his visit to the University on Monday October 3. The visiting dignitary was assisted by Sanjay Sharma, Consul General of India, Dubai, UAE.

On arrival Dr Veerappa Moily and his team were accorded a warm welcome by the founder president of Gulf Medical University, Thumbay Moideen. They were briefed to an audio, visual presentation followed by a tour of the University.

They were taken around and introduced to different medical faculties/departments and detailed about the educational pattern and the most modern and advanced equipment used in imparting quality education to the students. They were also taken on a tour of the newly inaugurated Learning and Information Centre which houses multimedia laboratories, learning and discussion rooms and the Graduate Study Centre. The guest was highly impressed that the University had an international faculty and a student cohort from 57 countries. He appreciated the growth and the development of the University in a short span of time.

The Gulf Medical University, which is at the forefront of quality higher education in medical and health sciences in the United Arab Emirates and the GCC region, today has established another pioneering initiative with the launching of short term certificate courses by Dr Veerappa Moily.

The launch of the short term courses was carried out in the presence of the president of GMU, provost professor Gita Ashok Raj, Prof Meenu Cherian, assistant director, CCE and CO and other deans of the University.

The newly launched short term certificate courses (10 months) are dental assistant, medical assistant, laboratory, medical assistant, administration, nurse assistant, medical assistant, clinical, physical therapy assistant, pharmacy assistant, introduction to health careers, clinical nutrition, medical billing and coding, medical insurance billing, phlebotomy, certificate in medical terminology, dental office management, geriatrics health care, nutrition for sports and human performance, legal fundamentals of health care and public health, ECG and rhythm interpretation, ECG monitor technician, infection control for non, clinical health care workers, pharmacy review, pharmaceuticals sales and marketing, basic surgical skills, basic Arabic for health professionals.

To mark the high-profile visit to Gulf Medical University, a special memento was presented by Thumbay Moideen to Dr Veerappa Moily, .

Later, Thumbay Moideen arranged for an audience between the visiting dignitary Dr Veerappa Moily, and Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nauimi, member of the Supreme Council of UAE and the Ruler of Ajman and other members of the Ruler’s Court.

On Monday October 3, Dr Veerappa Moily also visted Body & Soul Health Club, Spa and The Terrace Restaurant.

Body & Soul Health Club and Spa, a leisure and hospitality division of the Thumbay Group is an international leisure company dedicated to the pursuit of improved well being and lifestyle.

The visiting dignitary and his entourage were briefed about the active programmes, fitness programme, yoga, karate and aerobics classes at the health club, and also about the regular social and educational programmes conducted for children and adults. The health club authorities briefed the guest about the newly launched First Heart Rate Training Zone Cycling Studio.

The visiting dignitary cut a cake to mark the launch of new ‘Vegetarian Delight Super Course Silver Service' which caters seven dishes to a discerning customer exclusively on Wednesday nights.
