Udupi, Mar 28: Accusations have emerged against the Sub-Inspector (SI) of the reserve police force in Bengaluru, responsible for the security of Praveen Arun Chowgule, the prime suspect in the Nejar quadruple murder case. According to reports, the SI was allegedly intoxicated while on duty.
Superintendent of police (SP) Dr Arun provided details of the accusations, stating that the SI, tasked with presenting Chowgule in court in Udupi, was reportedly under the influence of alcohol. Witnesses claimed that the SI's uniform was improperly worn, lacking a nameplate, and he openly admitted to consuming alcohol the previous night. His behaviour during Chowgule's court appearance was described as indecent, and he reportedly treated both media and the public roughly.
SP Dr Arun assured that the matter has been brought to his attention by eyewitnesses, and a report for further action will be forwarded to the appropriate authorities.
