Former IPS officer Sanjiv Bhatt gets 20-year jail term in drug planting case

Daijiworld Media Network - Ahmedabad

Ahmedabad, Mar 28: A sessions court in Palanpur, Gujarat's Banaskantha district, sentenced former IPS officer Sanjiv Bhatt on Thursday, March 28, to 20 years in prison in a case dating back to 1996 involving the planting of drugs to frame a lawyer.

Bhatt, who is already serving time in a custodial death case, was found guilty of falsely implicating a lawyer from Rajasthan by alleging, in 1996, that police had discovered drugs in a hotel room in Palanpur where the lawyer was staying.

At the time of the incident, Bhatt was serving as the Superintendent of Police of Banaskantha district. Additional District and Sessions Judge J N Thakkar convicted Bhatt on Wednesday under relevant sections of the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and the Indian Penal Code. The sentence was announced on Thursday.

Can this be like a vehicle check? First they ask your licence and if found in order other documents are called for. If they find everything in order they circle the vehicle to find a tiny fault to issue a challan. Now they have realised there is no truth in the allegations against Mr. Bhatt. They'll find some reason to implicate him because he spoke the truth exposing feku and daku. Wonder how many suitcases will have changed hands to get this ruling.

Gujarat riots were in 2002, this case is of 1996 and has nothing to do with riots, it is related to a property dispute in Pali Rajasthan which involved a sitting judge Mr Jain at that time.

Nithin, , I was born and brought up in Ahmedabad, I had no affiliations to any political party and I had patients from both sides of the fence and let me tell you that things are really dirty on both sides, some things are really shocking and would seem unbelievable at first sight. I had patients from both major political parties, 4 DGPs ( highest rank in Gujarat), a large number of IAS and IPS officers , the richest of the rich and the poorest of the poor. I don't write in detail about this otherwise my fate will be like.....
