Kasargod, Mar 28: Two individuals, a youth and a middle-aged man, tragically lost their lives in separate accidents involving the same train.
A student, identified as Abdul Ramim Rafi (19), son of Rauf from Koothuparamba, Kannur, met with a fatal accident after falling from the train between Kumble and Kasargod on Thursday, March 28. Abdul Ramim Rafi, an engineering student at a private college in Mangaluru, was discovered deceased around 7:30 pm, in a pit near Kallangai Bridge between Kumble and Kasargod.
The incident reportedly occurred at 2:30 in the afternoon. According to information provided by fellow students, Rafi fell from a train traveling between Mangaluru and Chennai. In response, the Kasargod Railway Police, Railway Security Force, Kumble Police, along with citizens and students, initiated a search. The body was discovered near Chowki Kallangai later in the evening and has been transferred to the Kasargod General Hospital mortuary.
Upon receiving the news, Rafi's family members traveled to Kasargod.
In another unfortunate incident, a resident of Odisha lost his life after falling from the same train at Kasargod Railway Station. The train had stopped briefly during the afternoon. The deceased, identified as Sushant (41), was an employee at a petrol bunk in Mangaluru.
Sushant had disembarked from the train to purchase water. As the train began to move forward, he attempted to board but tragically slipped and became trapped between the train and the platform, resulting in his untimely death.
His body has been placed in the Kasargod General Hospital mortuary.
