Mangalore: DJ Suraj Bolar Among Winners of All-India Mirchi Folkmix

Mangalore, Oct 4: DJ Suraj Bolar is a name to reckon with. The Mangalorean is one of the best DJs in India, and now, officially so.

DJ Suraj has won the popular Kingfisher Strong 'Mirchi Folkmix', the country's biggest DJ hunt, along with 10 other DJs. The winners were announced at the finale in Mumbai by India's top DJ Akbar Sami.

Earlier, DJ Suraj grabbed the top spot in the regional rounds of the contest when his entry 'Kadu Kudure' won everybody's hearts with its upbeat rhythm, remixed with just the right splash of Kannada folk music.

The regional round was held at Sutra - The Lalit Ashok in Bangalore. Chetan and Rakshith Ashok were the other finalists, who, together with DJ Suraj, had the crowd swinging to scintlillating remixes.

Speaking to Daijiworld, DJ Suraj said that he dedicates his victory to all the people of Mangalore.

The finalists of the all-India competition got a chance to perform live at the grand finale at Pune and also at 'Glam & Jam night' at Mumbai. The events were witnessed by some of the top celebrities in Bollywood, like Dia Mirza and DJs like Cyrus.

The contest is a unique mix of traditional folk and club music. The contestants were required to download a folk song of their choice from Mirchi Folk Mix website, remix in accordance with the region they represented (example, Kannada folk for Karnataka) and send the same to the relevant Radio Mirchi station. The best 3 remixed folk songs were shortlisted for the regional rounds in their respective cities.

DJ Suraj's winning song, along with those of other winners, will be brought out in an album by Sa Re Ga Ma HMV.
