Udupi, Apr 1: A man killed his elder brother by beating him with a wooden log at Kajke Aramane Jeddu in Nalkoor village, Hebri, on Sunday, March 31, while under the influence of alcohol.
The deceased has been identified as Manjunatha (35), son of Gulabi, a resident of Kajke Aramane Jeddu. Vishwanatha (30), the younger brother of the deceased, is the accused and is currently in police custody.
Manjunatha and Vishwanatha worked as daily wage labourers and lived in the same house with their mother. They frequently engaged in fights after consuming alcohol.

Late on Saturday night, Manjunatha accused his younger brother Vishwanatha of being the reason for his wife deserting him and going to her parents’ house. Enraged by his elder brother's accusation, Vishwanatha struck Manjunatha on the head with a wooden log that was kept in the cellar of the house. Manjunatha died on the spot due to heavy bleeding from the head injury.
Hebri police are continuing their investigation.
