Mangaluru, Apr 2: A man, who was on election duty, attempted to take his own life on Tuesday, April 2, on the campus of the DC office in the city due to personal reasons. He was promptly taken to Wenlock Hospital, and his condition is reported to be stable.

The individual who attempted suicide is identified as Sridhar Hegde. He is a member of the one-window system team at the district election officer’s office. Since 2019, he had been working as a PDO at Beltangady Kadirudyavara panchayat limits. However, due to someone else being transferred to his position, Sridhar had not been properly placed since last February and March.

Although Sridhar's condition is said to be stable, he has been transferred to the ICU for close monitoring. His wife, Jayanti, works as a staff nurse at Beltangady.

Zilla panchayat CEO Dr. Anand, ADC Dr Santhosh Kumar, district health and family welfare officer Dr Timmaiah, and other officials are at the hospital, assisting in obtaining medical treatment for Sridhar.

Sad situation. He must have felt like value less. Till now he was happy. Now another person has to direct him? Such situation arises at present everywhere. Hope he will be alright and return home healthy. After all suicide is not a solution but brings more problems to own family than one thinks. He should be given proper consultation by a therapist.

This is sad, concerning and something to be probed thoroughly, in a unbiased way. The reason given may be personal, but evident it is not, its related to election.
