New Delhi, Oct 5 (IANS): Mines Minister Dinsha Patel Wednesday denied reports of the Goa government's involvement in illegal mining and said the pciture would become clear after the Goa Public Accounts Committee's report on it is tabled in the assembly.

"I can't comment anything about the report as it is yet to be tabled. But whatever I know from media reports is that PAC report does not the carry name of the Goa chief minister. I can assure you that the Goa government is not involved in it," Patel told a TV channel here.

Responding to a question about Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) demanding Goa Chief Minister Digambar Kamat resignation, Patel said: "Anybody can say anything but does not mean he (Kamat) will resign. Let the report be tabled and things will be clear."

Goa's PAC is looking into the Rs.3,500 crore illegal mining industry in the state and according to sources, is believed to have zeroed in on the nexus between politicians, bureaucrats, police and forest department officials.
