New Delhi, Oct 5 (PTI):  Author Chetan Bhagat, who is an alumnus of IIT, has called a truce after slamming Infosys founder Narayana Murthy on twitter.  "All is well," tweeted Mr Bhagat today.  "All respects to NRN/IIT/Infy. Chill!"

Earlier this week, Mr Murthy said that "the quality of students entering Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) has deteriorated over the years due to the coaching classes that prepare engineering aspirants." Mr Murthy's remarks were made in an address to hundreds of former IITians at a 'Pan IIT' summit in New York.

Mr Bhagat responded on Twitter on Tuesday. "It is ironic when someone who runs a body shopping company and calls it hi-tech, makes sweeping comments on the quality of IIT students," he posted.  "IITians have made a great contribution in making Infosys what it is. Hope people remember that," said the writer, who studied Mechanical Engineering at IIT, Delhi.  "Mr Murthy had a point, but wish he wasn't so sweepingly high handed. Fix the system. No point judging students," he added.

At around 12 noon today, Mr Bhagat said it's time to put the matter to rest, once again on Twitter.    "Totally overblown IIT issue. Someone made high-handed statement. I didn't like choice of words. Showed them how high-handedness can hurt," he tweeted.
