Mangaluru, Apr 4: District in-charge minister Dinesh Gundu Rao criticized home minister Amit Shah for "providing misinformation" about drought compensation during his recent visit to the state.
Speaking to the media on Thursday, April 4, Dinesh Gundu Rao said, "We have asked the central government to provide Rs 17,178 crore compensation for drought, but so far, nothing has been released." Dinesh Gundu Rao challenged Amit Shah to provide information regarding the same by providing an affidavit to the Supreme Court.
"During his visit to the state, Amit Shah misled people by stating that the state government has delayed in submitting the report and due to the election announcement, which was a drawback for compensation release. This was a lie from Amit Shah," said Dinesh Gundurao.
He also added, "We have approached the Supreme Court regarding the failure in providing compensation to the state over drought. Let the Home Minister confirm his statement given during his visit to the state by submitting an affidavit to the Supreme Court." Regarding drought, the Chief Minister had met the Prime Minister and Home Minister to discuss drought, but they did not call for a meeting and did not take any measures, which was injustice to the state.
"Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman are continuously telling lies," he added.
Dinesh Gundu Rao is confident that Congress will gain a majority in the upcoming elections with victories in Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, and Shivmogga.
District Congress president Harish Kumar, Ex-MLA Ramanath Rai, Congress leaders AC Vinayaraj, TK Sudhir, Suhan Alva, Praveen Chandra Alva, Sahul Hameed, Mahabala Marla, and others were present.
