Bengaluru, Apr 7: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah asked voters of Bengaluru North constituency to send Union Minister Shobha Karandlaje home as the BJP workers had told her to “go back” for not serving them as Udupi-Chikkamagaluru MP.
Addressing voters of Byatarayanapura, which is part of Bengaluru North Lok Sabha constituency, the chief minister appealed to the voters to vote for Congress candidate, Prof Rajiv Gowda, who is the most knowledgeable, accessible and a people-friendly person.
Siddaramaiah also campaigned for Prof Gowda in Dasarahalli and asked the voters to find out the real contribution of Shobha Karandlaje, who never spoke in favour of the State or voiced the demands of the people or the State.
The chief minister said the Congress candidate had served as vice-chairman of the State’s Planning Board and was eminently qualified as a teacher while Shobha’s contribution as a minister and MP was zero.
Siddaramaiah lashed out at JD(S) and ridiculed JD(S) supremo H D Deve Gowda for joining hands with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, forgetting his own promise to leave the country if Modi became a prime minister. Both Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who are now being praised by Deve Gowda, had done precious little to Karnataka in solving its problems or granting assistance for drought relief.
The Congress government’s guarantees have helped the poorer families to the tune of Rs 5,000 to 6000 every month and these guarantees are bringing relief to the people while the Acche Din promised by Modi have remained empty slogans, he said.
The chief minister warmly welcomed the BJP leader Gopikrishna of Tarikere in Chikkamagaluru parliamentary constituency into the Congress and said Gopikrishna has promised to work for Prof Rajiv Gowda and defeat Shobha Karandlaje.
