Sullia, Apr 7: Sources have confirmed that there were six members in a naxal gang that was masked and carrying weapons that visited a house on the edge of the forest at Cheru under Bilinele village of Kadaba taluk on Thursday night.

All the members were wearing the same kind of dress, shoes and were carrying huge bags. The house inmates said that the members carried gun like equipment in their bags.

Two of the gang members entered a house and put off the lights there and also asked the house owner to switch off his mobile phone. They also increased the volume of the TV. Four others were standing as guards in the front and backyard of the house.

The naxals then asked the inmates to prepare food for them and had rice and chicken curry. They also watched a TV serial that the house members were watching and left for the forest after taking some grocery items from home. They also got six of their mobile phone handsets and a laptop charged in the house during their stay. They were speaking in Kannada and other languages as per the information given by the members of the house.

Police and officials of anti-naxal force (ANF) rushed to the house as soon as they got wind of naxals’ visit to gather information. They searched for the gang in nearby areas. The house to which the naxals visited is on the edge of the forest a little distance away from Subramanya-Gundya highway.

Local residents were panicking as the naxals seem to be visiting this area frequently after a gap of 10 to 12 years. They have urged the police to increase their beats around the area.
