Ravana Burning Leads to Girl's Death


New Delhi, Oct 7 (IANS): A seven-year-old girl died of critical injuries after a burning log from a Ravana effigy in flames fell on her at Ramlila Maidan here, police said Thursday.

The log fell on Bhavya Gupta as she along with her parents was watching the Dussehra celebrations at the ground, police said.

"We received a call at around 7.15 p.m. A few people got injured but the girl was critically injured," a fire brigade official told IANS.

She was rushed to Lok Nayak Hospital. The other injured people were discharged afer first aid, the official said.

Bhavya was a Class 1 student of GH Public School in Paharganj.
