IAF MiG-21 Crashes, Pilot Safe


New Delhi, Oct 7 (IANS): An Indian Air Force (IAF) MiG-21 combat jet crashed in Rajasthan Friday but the pilot ejected to safety, an officer said.

The aircraft was returning from a routine sortie when it crashed around 11.30 a.m. near the Uttarlai air base in Barmer district, some 600 km from Rajasthan capital Jaipur.

"The pilot ejected to safety," the officer said.

A court of enquiry has been ordered into the accident, he added.

    These very old, more than four decades old useless Russian-made MIG 21 is simply killing people in the cockpit and ground. Simply to show the numbers of aircrafts in the fleet, the Indian Air Force is
    keeping these dangerous flyinging bombs and killing people. When they will stop flying this and discard them?
