Mangaluru/Madikeri, Apr 13: After enduring sweltering temperatures, various parts of coastal and Kodagu districts experienced much-needed rainfall on Friday.
Areas like Madamakki and Ardi, situated on the Western Ghats plateau, received substantial rainfall for over an hour during Friday evening.
Moderate rainfall was also reported in some parts of the coastal region. The rainfall brought relief to residents and farmers who had been eagerly anticipating precipitation for the past two weeks.
In Madikeri, rainfall was observed in several areas including Napoklu, Betu, Cheriyaperambu, Kolakeri Emmemadu, Nelaji Ballamavati, Parane, Kaikadu, Hodduru, Moornadu, Mekeri, and Biligeri. Coffee planters in the region welcomed the rainfall as it helped prevent their plants from drying out due to the intense heat.
Areas like Kadaba and Gundya in Dakshina Kannada received light drizzles in the evening, while overcast conditions were observed in Subramanya and Sullia. Udupi and Manipal also experienced slight drizzles.
A yellow alert has been issued for the coastal region for April 13 and 14, indicating the possibility of adverse weather conditions.
