Haveri, Apr 13: BJP leader Basavaraj Bommai on Saturday claimed that the Congress leaders were creating a scare of changing the Constitution as they have nothing else to talk against Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Speaking to media persons in Haveri during his Lok Sabha campaign, the BJP leader said Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s statement against BJP and advice to people not to vote for BJP for its talk on changing Constitution was totally unfounded.
“We have said this several times. None can change the Constitution as everything is governed by rules. Even the Supreme Court has ruled out changing the Constitution. But Siddaramaiah had been saying this to create scare among the people. Dr B R Ambedkar had given the permanent constitution to the nation,’’ he said.
Reacting to Congress MLA Laxman Savadi's statement that Bharat Matha ki jai was not the propriety of the BJP, the former chief minister said every citizen has the right to chant this slogan and let the Congress leaders also chant this slogan so that Bharat Matha would feel happy. Taking permission of AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge to chant this slogan would indicate the Congress mindset, he said.
Asked about Siddaramaiah's prediction that the BJP would not win 400 seats, Bommai said the Congress party was contesting only in 230 seats and they talk about other parties. The BJP would cross 370 seats mark and the BJP government would come back to power again.
On the statement that Sri Dingaleshwara Swami of the Shirahatti Fakireshwara Trust that he would become another Yogi Adityanath of Uttar Pradesh, Bommai said if the people wished it will happen. He, however, refused to comment on the Dingaleshwara Swamiji’s decision to enter the fray against Union Minister Prahlad Joshi in Dharwad.
