Udupi, Apr 14: With the soaring heat and scorching sun, the people of Udupi are experiencing heavy dehydration. The consumption of water, fruit juices, fruits, and other watery resources has drastically increased as a result. In response to this situation, Udupi Zilla Nagarika Samiti, Jos Alukkas Udupi, and Nidhi Medicals have joined hands to launch a unique initiative called ‘Jal Kuteera’, aimed at providing free drinking water and fruit juice to the public.
The public can avail themselves of free, cold drinking water from the earthen pots placed near the Jos Alukkas showroom on Maruthi Veethika road in Udupi city. Additionally, facilities for providing fruit juice are also available.
Every day, approximately 40 litres of water and around 20 litres of fruit juice are being distributed through this Jal Kuteera initiative to the public. Jos Alukkas is providing water, while Nidhi Medicals is supplying fruit juice mixes for this unique endeavour.
Speaking to daijiworld.com, Nithyananda Volakadu, social worker and president of Udupi Zilla Nagarika Samiti, said, “The initiative has now reached its 15th day, and we are receiving very positive responses from the general public. Jos Alukkas and Nidhi Medicals, who have always supported our unique initiatives, are backing this cause as well. This facility will continue until the rainy season begins.”
A large number of people are utilizing this unique system of free drinking water and fruit juice distribution, which is providing much-needed relief during the hot summer.
