Kundapur: Elderly woman passes away shortly after voting from home

Kundapur, Apr 17: An elderly woman, suffering from an illness, passed away within a few hours of voting from her home in Agrahar, Sastan, on April 15.

The deceased is identified as P Yashoda Narayana Upadhyay (83), wife of retired village accountant officer Narayana Upadhyay. She had been experiencing minor chest pain and fatigue since Saturday night. Despite her condition, she insisted on voting from home on Monday, stating, "I will go to the hospital after voting.”

Although her family urged her to go to the hospital on Monday morning, she expressed her determination, saying, "When the officials come home, they will be upset if I am not there. I have to vote.” They waited until 12:30 pm, and after casting her vote, they took her to a private hospital in Koteshwar. Unfortunately, her condition deteriorated during treatment, and she passed away at 9 pm.

She is survived by a son and two daughters.

    May her soul rest in Peace.I find in India they should bring a rule or possibility to elder people or sick ones to vote previously and send by Post.They need not wait there for hours in line .Forms will be sent home on request and send it back voting to pole places.Only it will be not opened previously and announced.We do have this possibility so that even working persons too are making use of this .Its very bequem .No stress on voting day.

    Have you read the news? she is voted from home. There is already a system in place for senior citizen and physically challenged person to cast vote.

    Looks like the Madam had Nation and ' Work First' attitude come what may. So it's obvious for whom she voted. Not for ' Time Pass ' politicians still fed on a sense of entitlement and can't bend to work.

    She has done her duty in the eyes of God.Every vote is valuable.Seen through my own eyes .The procedure is about half an hour.About 6 to 8 people arrive that include a woman cop and congress and bjp volunteers.It is highly confidential.it is not Evm machine but to sign on the paper with a right mark.After that it is floded with 2 covers.No one should peep or canvass from behind.They are always strict.It is a huge process...Only God knows who they have voted for.But definitely congress.
