Beltangady, Apr 17: A school bus driver from Halekote Vani Education Institute tragically passed away due to a heart attack while sleeping in the bus on April 15.

The deceased, identified as Vinay alias Shashidhar Gowda (58), had been serving as a temporary driver for several years. On April 15, teachers from the taluk were summoned to Mangaluru, along with the school institution's teachers, to evaluate the examination papers of class 10 students at Besant College.

It was discovered that he suffered a fatal heart attack while resting in the bus after lunch. In the evening, when the teacher returned and boarded the bus, he found the driver unresponsive.

Realizing the severity of the situation, the teacher immediately sought medical help and admitted the driver to the local hospital, where doctors confirmed his passing. Following post-mortem procedures, the body was brought to Beltangady. The deceased is survived by his wife, son, and daughter.
