Bengaluru, Apr 17: A total of 28 candidates hailing from Karnataka have successfully cleared the Civil Services (Mains) Examination-2023, with Soubhagya S Beelagimath emerging as the top scorer from the state, clinching the 101st All India Rank (AIR). The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) unveiled the results for 2023 on Tuesday April 17, recommending a total of 1,016 candidates for appointment.
Soubhagya, an agriculture science graduate from Davanagere, pursued her studies at Agriculture University, Dharwad. Remarkably, she accomplished her feat in the Civil Services Examination on her second attempt without the aid of coaching classes. Hailing from a family where her father runs a plant nursery in Davanagere and her mother is a homemaker, Soubhagya attributes her success to her perseverance and dedicated effort.
Reflecting on her journey, Soubhagya revealed that she initially struggled to clear even the preliminary exam in her first attempt. However, undeterred by setbacks, she doubled her efforts in her subsequent attempt, ultimately achieving her impressive ranking. While she anticipates the possibility of an Indian Police Service posting with her current rank, her ultimate aspiration is to join the Indian Administrative Service ranks. Additionally, she has also cleared the Indian Forest Service mains examination and is eagerly preparing for the interview stage. Looking ahead, Soubhagya plans to take the Civil Services Examination again to further improve her ranking.
Among other notable achievers, Nagendra Babu Kumar secured the 160th AIR, while Sanskriti Singh, daughter of senior IAS officer Rakesh Singh, attained the 366th AIR. Yashswini R, daughter of Pramila, a section officer of the rural development department, secured the 379th AIR.
