Bihar, Apr 18: Anil Basak's achievement in securing AIR 45 in UPSC is commendable, especially considering his background in a BPL family.
Hailing from Kishanganj, Bihar, Anil's father earns a living by selling clothes on the streets with a bicycle, having only completed education up to the fourth grade. Despite this, he prioritized his children's education, ensuring they received a good upbringing.
Anil secured a seat at the prestigious IIT Delhi after completing his 12th grade. Following his graduation, he pursued his childhood dream of becoming an IAS officer.
His first attempt at the UPSC was challenging, as he failed to clear the prelims due to overconfidence stemming from his success in the IIT-JEE. However, he learned from this setback, adjusted his study methods, and attempted again.
While Anil initially secured AIR 616 in his second attempt, earning a place in the IRS, his ambition remained to become an IAS officer. Undeterred, he persisted with a third attempt, ultimately achieving AIR 45 through hard work and dedication.
Anil attributes his success to his family's financial struggles, which fuelled his determination and resilience. He acknowledges his father and primary school teachers for their support and guidance on his journey to success.
