Dubai: Emirates Putturians Revel in 11th Anniversary Celebrations

Dubai, Oct 9: Emirates Putturians celebrated their 11th anniversary with a gala get-together at Ramee Royal Hotel Karama on Friday October 7.

The event commenced at 11.30 am with a welcome from the compere Uttam Menezes. The day was full of fun and entertainment, with surprise gifts and events. IT was a unique opportunity for all the parishioners of undivided Puttur, (presently Puttur, Maril and Bannur) who reside in UAE, to meet and greet their loved ones in Dubai.

Heritage, the local live band in action under the lead of Alwyn Mendonca with their foot tapping numbers of popular Konkani songs set the tone for the event. The band's noted musicians Alwyn Mendonca, Vincent Rodrigues, Milan Baptist and Rosal Sequeira had everyone on the dance floor in no time. They started with Gulf Voice of Mangalore second edition winner Ivan Fernades rendering the very popular number 'Juliana'. Thereafter loads of entertaining spot games were conducted, apart from games for children and couples. As always the yougsters took the floor immediately afterwards to the lovely, popular songs sung by Ivan Fernandes, Reena Loren and Alwyn Mendonca.

DJ Rony, the in-house Dj played some upbeat songs that livened up the atmosphere even more.

A special entertainment was a dance by Marina Menezes, Reshma, Vanitha Menezes and Reena Fernandes. Every performer was felicitated with gifts.

Besides, there were some wonderful dance performances by children and adults choreographed by Arun Lobo of 'Feet Beat Dance Group', Dubai. Ancita D'Costa presented a solo dance, and so also Shervin Mathias, Cleon and Micola.

Uttam Menezes, a well-known compere kept the audience engaged throughout the event and conducted some interesting games for all age groups.

Alex Gonsalves, president of Emirates Putturians welcomed all the parishioners, well-wishers and guests. "The event has generated good support from community members and sponsors. A large number of Putturians have gathered to express their unity to make the event successful," he said.

Vice-president Ajit Coelho took over the stage for the felicitation of sponsors and well wishers. President Alex Gonsalves felicitated the main sponsors Micheal D’Souza and Simon D’Mello. Micheal D’Souza felicitated all the sponsors and well-wishers - Joseph Mathias, Lancy Madtha, Alfred D’Costa, James Mendonca, Victor Fernades, Al Faris group, Peter Pais, Oswald Lobo, Oswald Madtha, Marcel D’Mello, Kumar Shetty, Joseph Saldanha, Lancy Serrao, Ashok D’Souza, Arun D’Souza and media partners Daijiworld.com.

Noverty sale was held by Amanda, Diljyothi, Pramodh and Philomena. Simon D’Mello bagged the novelty auction conducted by Antony and Nirmala Mascarenhus.

Newly-elected president of Canara Catholics, Fujairah Lancy Dantis was felicitated.

The event was well-organized by Antony, Nirmala, Gilbert, Ajith, Deena, Praveen and Pramod. The day ended with a baila dance at around 5.30 pm. On the whole, it was a day to remember  for all the parishioners and well wishers of Putturians who residing in the UAE.
