Bantwal, Apr 19: A mammoth road show, spearheaded by Congress candidate Padmaraj R Poojary for the Dakshina Kannada (DK) Lok Sabha constituency, captivated the streets from Kaikamba Cross to B C Road on Thursday evening.
Accompanied by a multitude of party leaders and workers, Padmaraj stood tall on an open vehicle as the procession traversed through the enthusiastic crowds. The vibrant spectacle culminated at B C Road, where a massive election campaign meeting took place, energizing supporters and amplifying the party's message.
Addressing the gathering, Padmaraj expressed his concerns, stating, "The 33 years of BJP representation in the Lok Sabha constituency of DK has unfortunately fostered communal friction. Tragically, youths from backward communities have lost their lives, and others have been hospitalized due to these tensions. Many families have been left orphaned due to the loss of their breadwinner youths. Despite this turmoil, there has been a noticeable absence of developmental projects in Dakshina Kannada during the BJP's lengthy tenure. In contrast, when Congress MPs represented DK, numerous schemes were introduced, benefiting the region.
"I have wiped the tears of poor people with the knowledge imparted to me by my Hindu religion, which I believe embodies true Hindu values. Now, we must strive to protect the essence of our religion.
"Mangaluru, like any other metropolitan city, should pulsate with activity round the clock. However, due to its unwarranted label as a communally sensitive city, activities often wind down by 7 pm. This should not be the case. We must shed this label from DK district and focus on generating employment opportunities. Our youth should have the chance to work in their own land and live with their families. To achieve this, Congress must emerge victorious. While there are promising signs of Congress winning the elections, we must remain vigilant. False propaganda from other parties is already circulating, but we must not be deterred. Let us redouble our efforts for the victory of Congress,” he said.
District Congress President Harish Kumar appealed to the public to cast their votes in favor of Padmaraj to safeguard democracy in the country.
District election in-charge Ramanath Rai emphasized the critical importance of Congress candidate Padmaraj Poojary winning this election. Rai described Padmaraj as a capable leader who will advocate for the rights of victims, effectively communicate the region's demands to the central government, and uphold integrity as a dedicated worker.
KPCC chief secretary M S Mohammed, KPCC member Chandraprakash Shetty, KPCC member Ashwini Kumar Rai, Padmashekhar Jain, K Sanjeeva Poojary, Sudarshan Jain, Abbas Ali, Suresh Kumar Navoor, Jagadish Koyila, Ibrahim Nawaz, Jayanti V Poojary, Jostin D’Souza, Baby Kundar, Anwar Karopadi, Mohan Gowda Kalmanja, Padmanabha Rai and Narayana Naik were present.
