Dubai, Oct 10: Bhatkal community hosted the largest ever Eid Milan programme at Sheikh Rashid Auditorium here at Oud Metha area.
There were various entertaining programmes to enthrall the audience such as Islamic poems, comedy acts and skits.
Leading stand-up comedian Ehsaan Qureshi sent waves of laughter as he belted out jokes in his trademark poetic style.
Earlier, the programme commenced with recitation of Quran by Shamoon, son of Shamsuddin Shahbandari, following which Moulana Zafar Nadvi explained the importance celebrating Eid.
Speaking on the occasion TMC president and chief guest Inayatullah Shahbandari spoke about the recent developments in Bhatkal and also informed that talks are on to explore the prospects of setting up a domestic airport in the taluk.
Guest of honour and chairman of Moopen's Group Dr Azad Moopen in his address recollected his early days in Calicut where he met many businessmen from Bhatkal. He also said that he still has many friends and associates hailing from Bhatkal.
Mohtesham Abdulrahman Jaan introduced Jamaath-ul-Muslimeen Bhatkal and Mohammed Gause Khalifa held a discussion about Khalij Council.
Toppers among students studying in Dubai were awarded on the occasion. Samreen, daughter of Umer Faheem and Tabish, son of Mohammed Asdfaque Sada received the educational award.
There was a lucky draw with around 49 prizes including Tata Nano and Hero Honda bike. The bumper prize also included a complete home appliance set worth Dh14,000, which was won by Syed Usman Barmawar. Syed Hussain SM won Tata Nano.
President of Anjuman Hami-e-Muslimeen, Bhatkal SM Syed Khaleelurrahman and Qasim Seddiqi from Ahmed Seddiqi & Sons among others were present.
Eid Milan convener Mohammed Ashfaque Shahbandari welcomed and Irshad Africa Nadvi Moulana delivered vote of thanks. Moulana Talha compered the formal function where as Rahmatullah Rahi compered the cultural progarame.
Around 2,600 people were present.
