Pakistan to Spend Rs 210 Mn for Gas Infrastructure


Islamabad, Oct 10 (IANS): Pakistan will spend Rs.210 million to lay infrastructure for supply of gas in Khyber Pakthunkhwa province.

Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani Sunday approved Rs.210 million to lay infrastructure for supply of gas to eight areas of Thall block in Karak district, reported Associated Press of Pakistan.

The Thall block oil and gas field will start production early next year.

The Thall block is the joint venture of Oil and Gas Development Company (OGDC) and the Hungarian Oil and Gas Company, MOL Ltd.

The drilling at the field started about seven years ago.

The lease period, according to the agreement, spans over 25 years.

According to OGDC, the operation of Thall block will save $237 million in foreign exchange every year, including $117 million from oil alone.
