Udupi, April 22: The Election Commission of India has announced a holiday on April 26 for the Lok Sabha elections – 2024 as voting in Udupi – Chikkamagaluru constituency will be held on that day.
In a statement, Deputy Commissioner Dr K Vidya Kumari said, "Casting of votes by all the students above 18 years of age is a right as per the Constitution of India. The Election Commission has announced April 26 as a holiday so that all the students may vote for a strong democratic nation.”
“Therefore, all the PU colleges in Udupi– Chikkamagaluru constituency should be closed on April 26, the day of elections so that all the students and the teachers may exercise their franchise,” said election officer of Udupi – Chikkamangaluru constituency and the deputy commissioner Dr K Vidya Kumari in a press release.
