Belthangady, Apr 26: The Banjaru Malai community polling booth, Beltangady taluk, Dakshina Kannada district was decorated like a wedding podium. The villagers cordially welcomed the election staff. There are voters numbering 111 in a population of 999 of the polling booth number 86.
There were medical and security staff, one police inspector, two police constables, two home guards, one head constable, one CRPF inspector and three gun men manning the polling stations.
There was one policeman, three staff members and four jeep drivers. The voting percentage last time was 99%. There were efforts to achieve the a polling percentage of 100% in the current Lok Sabha elections.
Cent percent voting was completed before 4 pm. The relentless efforts of Banjaru Male citizens and an employee of Neria grama panchayat besides the locals, Madhumala who mingled with the voters and persuaded them, made this feat achieveable and possible.
The efforts and the determination of Neria Panchayat development officer and district executive officer too contributed to achieving 100% polling possible.
