Lucknow, Oct 11: The Indian Congress party's young face, general secretary Rahul Gandhi, was seen in a different role in Jhansi district on Monday, October 9 when, accompanied by union minister of state for rural development Pradeep Jain, he raided a food godown from where malpractices by officials had been reported.

Gandhi has been known to pay such 'surprise' visits to several villages of the northern state of Uttar Pradesh, especially in the last couple of years, and has even stayed with villagers and joined them for meals.

The surprise raid by the 41-year-old Gandhi scion made a severe impact on the officials of the godown, who, as soon as they heard of the imminent raid by the top  political leader, fled from their offices!

Rahul Gandhi spent the night with the Medhki villagers in the district and had dinner in one of the houses in the village. Gandhi reportedly slept in one of the school buildings in the village, without fan or air conditioner!
