Dubai, Oct 11: The ruler of Dubai Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum has taken everyone by surprise by riding in Metro Rail system, which is one of the best in the world. The head of the state, posted his images in Facebook, encouraging others to take the metro and avoid cars at least for some time.

"I used Dubai Metro yesterday while conducting an official visit. I encourage all to utilise Dubai's advanced transport network," he wrote in Facebook.

The photo on Facebook has already attracted thousands of likes on the popular social networking site.

Dubai metro has been becoming popular day by day, with the number of commuters increasing significantly of late. This convenient way of commuting has received huge appreciation from immigrants of several countries who resides in the Emirate.

It may be recalled that Sheikh Mohammed inauguratd Dubai Metro’s long-awaited Green Line on September 9, 2011.
 
The official opening ceremony was held at the Dubai Healthcare City Station, exactly two years after the launch of Dubai Metro's Red Line.

The Metro’s second line, which has added eighteen stations and 23km to Dubai’s existing rail network, will provide low-cost transport for passengers living in the older areas of the city such as Deira and Bur Dubai.
