Kasargod: Five killed in ghastly truck-car collision at Kannur

Kasargod, Apr 30: In a tragic accident between a truck and a car at Kannapur in Kannur, five natives of the district lost their lives. The collision occurred on Monday April 29 night.

The deceased have been identified as Padma Kumar (59), a resident of Kalicchinadka Shastampara, Krishnan (65), a resident of Karivellur, his daughter Ajita (35), her husband Sudhakar (35) of Churikkad, and Ajita’s nephew Akash (9).

The mortal remains have been shifted to Kannur Medical College mortuary. The car was traveling from Kannur to Kasargod, while the truck, carrying cooking gas cylinders, was heading to Kannur. The family in the car had been to Kozhikode and was returning to Kasargod when the tragedy occurred.

The car sustained severe damage in the collision. Civilians, along with fire service personnel and police, extricated the passengers from the mangled vehicle.
