Shivamogga, May 2: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi took aim at PM Modi on Thursday regarding the 'obscene video' case involving Prajwal Revanna, suggesting that the PM owes an apology to women for endorsing Revanna, who is accused of raping 400 women.
Addressing a reporter from a news agency in Shivamogga, Karnataka, Rahul Gandhi emphasized the gravity of the Revanna case, referring to the accused as someone who has allegedly committed mass rape. He called on Prime Minister Modi to address the issue and offer an apology to the affected women.
Rahul Gandhi, who was the NDA candidate in the Hassan Lok Sabha constituency where polling recently took place on April 26, highlighted the association between Revanna and the NDA, pointing out JD(S)'s alliance with the NDA since September last year.
Accusing PM Modi of supporting a ‘mass rapist’ during a public event in Karnataka, Rahul Gandhi asserted that every woman in Karnataka should be aware of the PM's endorsement of Revanna despite the serious allegations against him.
Moreover, Rahul Gandhi alleged that BJP leaders were fully aware of Revanna's actions yet chose to support him, forming an alliance with JD(S) despite the controversy surrounding Prajwal.
Asserting that the PM, home minister Amit Shah, and all BJP leaders owe an apology to every woman in the country, Rahul Gandhi condemned the act of seeking votes for someone accused of mass rape.
Rahul Gandhi also criticized the BJP's ideology, stating that the party is willing to make alliances and compromise principles for the sake of power.
Prajwal Revanna, the grandson of former Prime Minister and JD(S) patriarch H D Deve Gowda, faces allegations of sexual abuse, prompting the state government to launch a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the case.
Numerous explicit video clips allegedly involving the 33-year-old MP have surfaced in Hassan in recent days.
