Much-awaited Tulu movie ‘Gabbar Singh’ releases in Mangaluru, Udupi

Mangaluru/Udupi, May 3: Tulu movie ‘Gabbar Singh’, produced under the banner of Muthu Gopal Films Barkur, released throughout the coastal belt on Friday May 3.

The grand release event of the movie was held at Big Cinemas in Mangaluru.

M Shekar Poojary, Dr Melwyn D’Souza, Jayanand, Dhanraj, actor Girish Shetty, Atharva Prakash, director Rahul Amin, Sathish Poojary Barkur, Prakash Pandeshwar, Bhojaraj Vamanjoor, actor Sharan Shetty and Wencita Dias were among the guests during the release event.

The movie will be screened at various theatres, including Roopavani, Bharath Cinemas, Cinepolis, and PVR in Mangaluru, Kalpana and Bharath Cinemas in Udupi, Inox and Bharath Cinemas in Manipal, Cinegalaxy in Suratkal, Bharat Cinemas in Padubidri, Radhika and Planet in Karkala, Bharath Cinemas in Puttur, and Bharath Talkies in Beltangady.

A formal release ceremony was also held in Kalpana theatre in Udupi. Fr Denis D'Sa, parish priest Thottam church; Sai Ishwar guruji of Shankerpura; Abul Hassan, moulvi of Miyar masjid; political leaders Geethanjali Suvarna, Baikady Suprasad Shetty, Udupi district Congress campaign committee president Harish Kini, Sarala Kanchan, Shilpa Bhat, former Udupi BJP president Kuilady Suresh Nayak, Krishnamurthy Acharya, Udupi block Congress president Ramesh Kanchan; artistes of the movie Veena S Shetty, Sandeep Bhaktha, Aadya, and Chandrahas Kappettu; Kishoo Enterprises proprietor Kishore Gonsalves graced the occasion.

Sai Eshwar Guruji said, "Tulu movie ‘Gabbar Singh’ is releasing today. The Tulu film industry is growing rapidly and is giving opportunities to many new talents. May the efforts of all those who worked for this movie become fruitful.”

Fr Denis D'Sa, parish priest Thottam church said, "I wish the whole team the very best. I have worked in Sandesha Prathisthan. The institution gives away ten awards annually to notable personalities and one among it is reserved for the Tulu film industry. A lot of work is happening in the Tulu industry. The language is not included in the Eighth Schedule yet and efforts are underway to include it. This sort of entertainment is really needed amidst the stressful daily life.”

‘Gabbar Singh’ boasts a unique storyline inspired by an incident in Uttar Pradesh. With a blend of good storytelling, light comedy, six songs, and four fight sequences, the movie promises an entertaining experience. Filmed in three phases across locations like Suratkal, Chitrapur, and Baikampady, it features Sharan Shetty as the protagonist, portraying the role of a strict officer who restores peace in society amidst turmoil.

‘Gabbar Singh’ is an action thriller with family-oriented elements. The story and screenplay are crafted by Satish Poojary Barkur, with direction by Pradeep. Dialogues for the movie are penned by Madhu Suratkal.

The cast of the movie includes Kusaldarase Naveen D Padil, Aravind Bolar, Bhojaraj Vamanjoor, Prasanna Shetty Bailoor, Saikrishna, Umesh Mijar, Ravi Ramakunja, Girish M Shetty Kateel, Veena Shetty Udupi, Atharva Prakash, Udaya Alva Idya, Sandeep Bhakta, Kiran Malpe, Poornima Shetty, Pavithra Shetty, Chandrahasa Shetty Mani, Sampath Lobo, Asha Shetty Shibaroor, Lahari Shetty Padre, Shilpa Shetty, Bhavya Shetty Suratkal, Santhosh, Chandrahasa Shetty Kappettu, Franky Kolalagiri, Umesh Shetty Havanje and Baby Aadhya Udupi.

Cinematography is handled by Ravi Suvana, editing by Prajwal Suvarna, and art direction by Venkatesh Bengaluru. Dolphin Kolalagiri provides the music, with Kartik Mulki scoring the background music. Ultimate Shiv choreographs the fight sequences, while Avinash Bangera and Shubha Kiran handle the choreography. Costume design is by Sharath Barke, and makeup is by Pradeep. Pushparaj Rai and Jayaraj serve as co-directors, assisted by Bhagyaraj.
