Explosives Laden Car Found in Ambala, NSG Team Reaches

Ambala (Haryana), Oct 13 (IANS): A National Security Guard (NSG) team arrived from Delhi and Haryana Police Thursday conducted raids around the Ambala Cantt railway station after an explosives laden car was found in the parking lot the evening before.

Acting on a tip-off, Haryana Police, along with a special team of Delhi Police, had found an abandoned Indica car Wednesday evening with five kg of explosives, a timer and detonators. Police waited for the owner of the car and then opened it to find the explosives.

"We found around five kg of explosives, five detonators and a timer device. Following this, all other vehicles were removed from the parking area... the entire area has been cordoned off," said a Haryana Police officer.

"Delhi Police is linking this discovery with the high court blast of last month. We are conducting raids and have launched an extensive search operation in the area," he said.

He said the explosives had been sent for a forensic test.

Bomb squads also reached Ambala Cantt, around 40 km from Chandigarh, from Haryana's Karnal and Madhuban towns and from Punjab's Ludhiana town.
