Mangaluru: BJP worker crossing road run over by speeding car

Mangaluru, May 3: In a tragic incident, a speeding car from Kerala struck a BJP worker while he was crossing the highway at Adka.

The incident occurred at Adka, near Kotekar, NH 66, on Friday, May 3 afternoon.

The victim, Srikant (46), resided near Kalikamba temple, Kotekar, Nellistala, and worked as an auto electrician. While crossing the highway at Adka, he was hit by a speeding car, resulting in serious injuries. Despite being rushed to the hospital in Mangaluru by the driver responsible for the accident, Srikant succumbed to his injuries without responding to treatment.

Srikant was an active member of Tulunad Friends, Kotekar, and also worked as a BJP worker. He had campaigned in favor of BJP candidate Brijesh Chowta during the recent Lok Sabha elections. Srikant, who was unmarried, is survived by his mother and two sisters.

A case has been registered at Mangaluru South Traffic Police Station in connection with the incident.
