Davanagere, May 5: Attacking Prime Minister Narendra Modi for complete non-performance as far as real people-oriented programmes, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Sunday promised to retire from politics if Modi is able to prove implementation of at least 10 public welfare programmes in the last 10 years.
Addressing a public rally in support of the Congress candidate Prabha Mallikarjun in Davanagere Lok Sabha constituency, Siddaramaiah accused the sitting BJP MP G M Siddeshwar of doing nothing in parliament and now the BJP has denied ticket to him and given it to his daughter Gayatri Siddeshwar, who should be rejected.
The BJP leaders are talking about Kurubas and backward classes and denied tickets to even a single Kuruba candidate, he said and mentioned that Siddeshwar did nothing for the people.
On the other hand, the Congress party has implemented its poll guarantees, while the BJP and Modi have given nothing but “chombu” or an empty pot, Siddaramaiah said.
The chief minister lashed out at Independent candidate Vinay Kumar, who has entered the fray to spoil the chances of Congress, and asked the people to reject such “opportunists” who had come to meet me and promised to withdraw and remained in the fray to help the BJP.
