Mangaluru, May 6: The conclusion of a nine-day long camp held for children 'Voap', was held at Kalaangann, Shaktinagar on May 5.
Kalaangann managing committee president Ronald Mendonca said that thousands of talents have come to light from such camps. "I congratulate the office bearers and trainers of Mandd Sobhann who have been working to preserve the language and culture through them," he said. He presented prizes and certificates for those who displayed best performance.
Jianna Fernandes Paladka was presented Rs 3,000 for her best performance in the camp. Sherlene Pinto Bondel (dance), Alani Danti Pernal (drama), Viona Janis Pinto (singing) and Sanjana Riva Mathais (Konkani) were handed over prizes of Rs 2,000 each.
Guest of honour Dr Gangubai Hanagal University and Kalakul drama diploma managing committee member, 'Vidhushi' Rajashree Shenoy distributed certificates to the camp participants. Ashwin Colaco, Bracita Fernandes and Sweedal Furtado shared their experience in the camp. Sanjana Mathais, Jenisha Rodrigues and Melora D'Souza read the poems created by them.
Guest of honour, director of Plant Tech Industries Services Limited and musician Lawrence D'Souza rang the bell and inaugurated the monthly repertoire. Mandd Sobhann Gurkar Eric Ozario, president Louis Pinto, coordinator Stany Alvares and Raina Sequeira were present on behalf of the trainers on the dais.
The camp participant children performed singing and dances later. The drama Vodlo Rakkos, Dakto Padryab drama translated by Arun Raj Rodrigues and directed by Vikas Kalakul was performed.
Alani Danti and Crishel Almeida compared the hall programme. Shawn Gomes and Viona Pinto compared the cultural program. Jianna Fernandes proposed a vote of thanks.
