This is fantastic news. I knew Ruben from my days on the basketball team from St Aloysius 15 years ago and it is great to know his dedication to sports hasn't gone down one bit at all. Hockey must see a resurgence in Mangalore as it used to be a very popular game earlier with St Aloysius leading the way with exceptionally talented teams. The late Mr Benjamin D'Souza was a big supporter of the game and the hockey ground at St Aloysius was also named after him. Well done Dr Gerald, you are living testimony to Benjamin sir's legacy.

Being the general secretary of Bahrain Hockey Association, a proud Mangalorean hockey player and fanatic, I understand the effort that goes into bringing back a beloved game like hockey to life. It is refreshing to see such standards being set in Mangalore. Great team work. Keep it up and hope to see more hockey news on daijiworld.

Thanks Mr. Vitus Saldanha. I and my sports friends from Aloysius surely remember the hockey team in your times and of course you all were our heroes at that time. Our university men and women hockey teams are promising but due to certain factors could not make it to the title round. Thanks for all your wishes and support.

I would also like to inform you that we have revived the DKHA last year and held the first DK League after about 15-20 years. We also have started Benjamin Sports Foundation Trust this year, aimed primarily at developing hockey in the district, and already adopted about five schools. Your prayers and wishes will surely help us in promoting sports among children. you can check dkhockey.org for our Association activities.

Thanks once again for your remembrance and wishes.

Congratulations to all the players and coach n manger.
Dr Gerald D'Souza son of ex physical intructor Late.Mr.Benjamin D'souza of St. Aloysius college.Mangalore had very good Hockey players but becoz of lack of infrastructure we could not make it to the nationals,Dr.Gerald himself was a g8Hockey player and his father had supported this game and encouraged many mangalorean boys to play this.Earlier there where hockey tournaments in St.Aloysius.college.
But our College adminstration only collect money to build new buildings for higher education and i feel sorry to say they had not given anything to Late Mr.Benjamin D'souza,at least one Hockey Stadium in his name if they build would have been highly appriciated apart from taking huge Donations for MBA n other studies...pls develop sports too. They are only proud to click their photo's and happy to come to media when any boy excells in sports but they never support them...just go to north of Karnatak n other states how they support their sports students who excells in sports.
Poor Late Mr.Benjamin D'souza should have been a Physical instructor of Alva's college.moodibidri he would have been given right respect till now.
