Udupi, May 7: Fire erupted in the commercial-cum-residential city center complex on the main road of Malpe around 11 pm on Monday.

Thanks to the quick efforts of locals and Apathbandhava Eshwar Malpe and his team, a huge tragedy was averted, and the fire was doused in time before it could spread.

A water tank was also arranged by Eshwar Malpe and his team. Later, Udupi fire service personnel visited the spot.

However, the fire was already doused before their arrival.

    It is because of Eshwar Malpe and his team is very active than the fire brigade whose salary is given by the Government for sleeping.
